Surrealism Project

For this assignment I wanted to have the theme of when people, "Veggie Out". I had originally envisioned a person with a broccoli head, but ended up using a Okinawa vegetable due to not finding the perfect broccoli at the market. The goya that I used was nice because it had great texture and interesting grooves for a fun image. I placed the goya image over my friends head and allowed certain features of her face to show through the vegetable. This was a very fun project to work with.

Surreal Artist

The artist I have chosen for my inspiration for the Surrealist project is Rene Magritte. I have chosen him because I enjoy his sense of humor and his style of surrealism. I also enjoy the work of Loretta Lux. I am still unsure if I will merge the two artists styles together or if I will just stick with Rene Magritte.

Panorama Project

The panorama project was more difficult than I expected. It was my first time creating a panorama using Photoshop and I had always thought that it would be better to take many many photos to create a great panorama. I ended up taking many photos but most of them were of the same image so that it would look funky when I attempted to create the panorama on the computer. I wanted the mural to be the main attraction for this project but I ended up including the building and the two billboards on top of the building. This photo was taken in Hollywood and I feel that the mural, the Playmates clothing store, the building, the billboards, and the pedestrians are all elements to the existing culture of Hollywood.

Original Series Photos

Series Project (4 out of 4)

This was taken from the top level of the parking structure located on the west side of El Camino College. The camera was positioned very low to the ground and ended up capturing the discarded butt of a cigarette and a brief moment of the horizon of school buildings and palm trees.

Series Project (3 out of 4)

This photo was taken during a road trip to Phoenix, Arizona. Originally, this image had very low exposure and lacked detail. It was interesting to see a random poster in the middle of an area that was mostly mountains and obviously under populated community.

Series Project (2 out of 4)

This photo was taken downstairs in the Music Building at El Camino College. Although the lockers in the foreground are in focus and appear to be the topic of the image, the two friends in the background are what were inspirational in taking this particular photograph. The warm, yellow light creates a positive ambience and contributes to the relationship between these friends in the hallway.
